I'll always remember my last conversation with John. Kevin had called me in Paris and told me that I had to call John right away because the doctors said he was on his way out. I called him and got through to him in his hospital room in Chicago and he told me he had just had a brain operation and went on to say, "I gave that doctor a piece of my mind!" Then we wandered back through time to the days when he would ferry us over to Dunkin' Donuts at two in the morning. One of my favorite pictures of him is on the third floor of Wharton E, posing with Patty Granfield between Libra and Scorpio. None of us could stop teasing each other; none of us could stop laughing! A piece of my heart will always be with you, my dear friend John, who are one of the most courageous, amusing and complex characters I've ever met.
